10/7/2019

We are currently welcoming applications for our market gardening internships for the 2020 season at Tomnah'a Market Garden. We are seeking enthusiastic and hardworking individuals or couples to become part of our farm team from the beginning of April until the end of October who are interested in learning and practising all aspects of market gardening in beautiful rural Perthshire, Scotland.

We can accommodate 3-4 interns so we would welcome couples and friends who would like to share living arrangements.

We are a team of young farmers running a market garden going into our 5th year of production and grow a wide range of vegetables, fruits, cut flowers and hens for eggs. We practice no-dig soil management and follow organic principles without certification due to the fact we direct sell most of the produce. Using bio-intensive production methods and wildlife friendly techniques we try and maximise our soil health whilst maintaining high productivity.

The internship is ideally suited to people wanting to find out more about the reality of small scale sustainable farming or planning to start their own farm / small holding and wanting to gain valuable experience of the day-to-day running of a market garden over the whole season.  .

We are also looking for someone who would like to concentrate on cut flower production with some floristry included.

What we are offering-
Opportunities to learn all aspects of market gardening through practical involvement in all tasks from seeding to sales.
Generous living expenses,  most food provided and caravan or yurt accommodation
Access to numerous resources including online training courses, working documents etc
Possibility of additional paid work at Tea Garden Café or Comrie Croft

What we are expecting:
Approx 30 hours / week –
Generally working every weds / thurs / fri morning – with remaining days decided week by week –
Work will be focussed on production of vegetables – mainly helping with seed sowing / transplanting / weeding / harvesting / packing
Work will often be with local or other residential volunteers
Possible help with deliveries
Some help with stocking farm shop
Some help with flower harvesting

Any questions or to apply please contact us-

Thanks!!
