We are currently welcoming applications for our market gardening traineeships for the 2021 season at Tomnah'a Market Garden. We are seeking enthusiastic and hardworking individuals or couples to become part of our farm team from the beginning of April until the end of October who are interested in learning and practising all aspects of market gardening in beautiful rural Perthshire, Scotland. We are a team of young farmers running a market garden going into our 6th year of production and grow a wide range of vegetables and cut flowers with some fruit and hens for eggs. We practice no-dig soil management and follow organic principles without certification due to the fact we direct sell most of the produce. Using bio-intensive production methods and wildlife friendly techniques we try and maximise our soil health whilst maintaining high productivity. We can accommodate 3-4 trainees so we would welcome couples and friends who would like to share living arrangements. One of the traineeship positions would offer the unique opportunity to learn about cut flower production, working on all aspects of growing cut flowers; for local retail sales, a broader wholesale market and also for in-house floristry for weddings at Comrie Croft. There is also the potential to develop floristry skills and work on creative projects. For more specific information on this role please get in touch but most of the details below apply. The traineeships are ideally suited to someone wanting to find out more about the reality of small scale sustainable farming or planning to start their own farm / small holding to gain valuable experience of the day-to-day running of a market garden over the main growing season.
