Come and visit

We love sharing our passion for plants , there are many ways to come and see what we are growing and the limitless things you can do and make with plants, from medicine to weaving a basket

Tomnah’a is a working Market Garden, so we’re not open to the public all the time, but throughout the growing season we offer a number of guided tours, Pick Your Own flower experiences, workshops and special events. Use the calendar below to see what’s on, and follow us on social media, or join our mailing list, to ensure you hear about the latest additions.

Accessibility Information

Most workshops take place outdoors on the farm, with covered space for rainy weather. The whole farm site is on a slope, though there is a more level, well drained dirt track from the vehicle gate to the events barn. The path from the top gate is quite steep and uneven. Some events, such as basketry, take place almost solely in the barn, but others make use of other parts of the site that are accessed by tracks and grassy paths.

The barn space contains wooden tables, chairs and benches, and we have chairs that can be moved around the field to give options for sitting during workshops. We have a composting loo on site which has a couple of steps up to it. The nearest flush toilets and accessible toilets are at Comrie Croft, which is about 150m away up a rough track. The car park is on a slope, but there are parking spaces at the top close to the Croft buildings, and the option for workshop participants to be dropped off at our vehicle gate, to avoid the steeper slope from the pedestrian gate.

If you are interested in attending a workshop but have further questions about accessibility, please do get in touch at info@tomnaha.com.

Nature Connection: Planting Seeds of Wonder

Nature Connection: Planting Seeds of Wonder

Do you remember the last time you felt a sense of awe or wonder? Maybe it was while looking out at a beautiful view, hearing a powerful piece of music, or witnessing someone do something very brave or courageous. How did it feel? Uplifting, energising, inspiring?  Did you know that you can cultivate states of awe and wonder on purpose, simply using the way you pay attention?

University of Toronto researchers have found that awe directly lowers levels of inflammation, the main exacerbator of many chronic health conditions. Several studies show it relieves anxiety and depression, which is why some therapists are prescribing awe as a pathway to good physical and mental health. It widens the mind, making us see possibilities we didn't know were in reach.

The garden at Tomnah'a is the perfect place to plant seeds of awe and wonder, and watch them grow. The wide open sky, dazzling colours of flowers and plants, the many varied fruits, vegetables and leaves - all of these create a sensory landscape we can put to good use in developing our capacity for awe, wonder (and their near-cousin, delight!).

Lhamo Grace - yoga therapist, Transformational coach, yoga, mindfulness and self-compassion teacher - will lead this gentle yet inspiring day of meditation and creativity designed to stimulate states of mind that will uplift, refresh and inspire you.

No mindfulness or yoga experience required.

£50 for a full-day workshop. Tea/coffee and snacks will be provided. You can either bring a packed lunch or visit the Tea Garden cafe at Comrie Croft, where you’ll find a range of delicious lunch options!

Songwriting Workshop

Songwriting Workshop

Lhamo believes that if you have something to say, then you have something to sing, and that songwriting is for everyone.

Using the garden, the sky, the birds, the breeze and anything else that appears as inspiration, Lhamo will guide you on a songwriting journey to discover and create lyrics, melodies and harmonies and shape these into songs.

Lhamo is a singer, songwriter and community singing facilitator. She has been writing songs since she was a child. More recently Kenny Anderson of King Creosote asked if he could cover one of her songs, and she has written commissioned songs for individuals and businesses.

No songwriting, singing or musical experience, skill or knowledge required. Songs can be simple or complex, they can be very short or longer, they can be accompanied by instrumentation or they can be acapella.

Bring instruments if you wish, but they are not essential.

The simplest idea can become a song. Join Lhamo at Tomnah'a, and she will show you how! This will be a day of light-hearted fun, creativity and relaxation. Absolutely no pressure to perform or share your songs, though that will be encouraged for those who are keen and willing!

Qigong in the Garden

Qigong in the Garden

Qigong is a soft and relaxing ancient Chinese art of working with and cultivating energy (qi). Qigong has many benefits, it can increase energy, agility and flexibility, loosen and strengthen joints and muscles, rejuvenate body, mind and spirit and is relatively easy to learn.

Practicing qigong outside in a garden space like Tomnaha enables us to tap into the elemental forces of nature such as earth, air, and water. The workshop will provide an opportunity to learn some basic qigong movements and exercises used to stimulate qi for better health and wellbeing.

Dave Macdonald practiced Tai Chi for over 20 years before moving to Qigong, focusing mainly on the Shibashi, Ji Ben and Self-healing forms. He has held Qigong courses in Comrie and district for over 8 years and also Zoom classes during the two Covid years.

Suitable for beginners and refreshments will be available at the end.
